Chihuahuas Pictures - Appearance

Chihuahuas are one of the smallest dogs in the world; their height at the withers does not exceed 6-9 inches, and weight does not go beyond 6 pounds. They come in different colors, including brindle, fawn, tan, blonde, blue, black, red, brown and so forth.

Chihuahuas feature a distinctive apple-shaped head, featuring big ears with broad bases and sharpened tips. Ears rest at a 45-degree angle to the horizontal, forming a right angle to each other. Eyes are dark-brown, rounded and set well apart. These dogs have well-set bodies, exhibiting strength and agility. The chest is deep and roomy, and the front legs are set widely apart. This makes the dog look sturdy and enduring.

Chihuahuas Pictures - Behavior

Chihuahuas are reliable and loving home pets, and they do not adjust well to outdoor life. However, they are quite good joggers, and therefore it is possible to walk them on warm days. Chihuahuas are playful indoors and they do not require much space.

Chihuahuas possess self-esteem, which is inversely proportional to their size. They are fairly territorial and wary of strangers and other dogs. Chihuahuas are protective around their masters and they rarely wander far from their side, accompanying them wherever they go.

Chihuahuas are intolerant of teasing, and they retaliate with painful snaps. For this reason, these dogs are not suitable for families with small children. Chihuahuas are very loyal to those who live in the house. They can be good with other animals, provided they receive a proper socialization during puppyhood. Chihuahuas are fond of licking their owners' face and sitting on their lap.
